Hey! I’m Emilee, a writer and editor living in New York City. I’m glad you’re reading my blog. Here’s my life story:
I grew up around Buffalo, so I know my way around a chicken wing. I learned everything else at The Bona Venture, my school paper at St. Bonaventure University, a lil’ college tucked away in the Enchanted Mountains of Western New York (not joking — they’re really called the Enchanted Mountains). In my junior year, I started this blog, hence why there’s random posts about vocabulary and digital media classes. I used this little space on the internet to document by internship at Dow Jones Newswires in New York, where I copy edited market news after making it through DJNF’s intense training program.
After graduating, I found myself in the City again. This time for MTV News, which was nothing short of a dream job. I met Taylor Swift a few times, interviewed my favorite artists (and my not-so-favorite artists, now that I think about it), traveled to awards shows and concerts and festivals. Now, I do that for Fuse, as their Senior Editor, where I cover everything from Beck’s newest track to Bryan Cranston’s weird movie casting to essays about how Fifth Harmony is going to survive without Camila Cabello (but seriously, can they?). I also co-host a nostalgia-fueled podcast for ’90s kids called Besterday.
When I’m not working, I’m freelancing and working for other sites because I’m a sick person who loves doing this stuff all the time when I should probably be watching Westworld or something.
OK, but actually in my free time, I love backpacking and drinking beer (did you not see my pic??) and petting my cat. I’ll read anything that Cheryl Strayed has written (except for the book she released of her own quotes because I REFUSE). I mostly like lighting candles and listening to music and falling asleep.
