President Obama on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon Instagram Barack Obama President

Jimmy Fallon posted this picture on Instagram yesterday. Instagram is just one of the ways he uses social media on his show.

In my late-night insomnia, I switched on NBC at 12:35 a.m. this morning to watch Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, one of my favorite shows ever. Jimmy was doing his show from UNC Chapel Hill and President Barack Obama was the guest.

It was surreal watching the president on a non-news talk show, and it really showed his fun side. Here is my favorite moment from the show:

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has done a great job incorporating Twitter in its show to generate conversation with the viewers. The show’s main audience is college students, who stay up late watching the program. Obama’s campaign strategists probably knew this and got him placement on the show to target the younger audience. The focus of Obama’s interview was student loans. He is trying to stop the federal-student-loan interest rates from being raised in Congress.

He also took Twitter questions. “What would you say if you were in the same room with Mitt Romney.” Answer: “Hey, Mitt.”

Not only did the President tackle important issues, but he did it in a cool, young way. In the “Slow jamming the news” segment, Obama talked about lowering interest on Stafford loans while Jimmy added soulful, funny ad libs in between.

Overall, being featured on the UNC show was a strong campaign move for Obama. His appearance made my support for him grow.
