I’m in such a lousy mood. It’s the weekend. School starts Monday. You’d think I’d be enthusiastic?
But I’ll spare you my personal issues and just tell you that I need to find a way to make my life interesting. It’s like I’m going through a mid-life crisis!
I abhor it. “Abhor” means strong hatred, or as Merriam-Webster suggests, repugnance.
I read about this in “The Careful Writer” last night. Abhorrence takes the preposition “of.” My abhorrence of general requirement classes led to an elective-filled class schedule. Abhorrent takes the preposition “to.” I am abhorrent to political intolerance.
Thanks, Theodore Bernstein. Now back to other areas of my life…
